From the time she was a little girl, Marie Roquefeuil has been a spitfire just as active and opinionated as her bright red hair hints. Though she's learnt to confine her behavior to a more lady-like at least outward appearance in keeping with her breeding and the fact that she's titled nobility. But deep down she's still that spirited young woman. For a while during her married years when she had to hide this more carefully, it wasn't always as obvious. Now that she's widowed and through mourning, however, Marie has realized that for the first time in her life she has a chance to figure out who she is: someone who wants to know real love that her marriage didn't really provide, someone who wants to try new things, have adventures, and be able to express her real views. So who will Marie be friendly with? She's likely to be at least acquaintances with anyone who is someone in France. She personally knows the King, for instance. Her husband was personal friends with many in the Chouannerie, but Marie doesn't like them very well as she dislikes what they're doing with the country. Her mind is progressive enough to realize that those not in the aristocracy aren't okay and the country can't support paying for the lavish lifestyle of the rich. Those friendships, therefore, she's keeping as a "keep your enemies closer" type thing. But they wouldn't know this. At least not at this point. Why is she keeping her enemies closer? Well she's helping fund The Pimpernel secretly including allowing people to stay in her home as a waystop if they need it. She's also close friends with Percy's wife Margot Blakeney. Realistically she'd have the most interaction with other people of good standing. But she's open minded enough to befriend almost anyone. So if you have someone outside the typical box.. absolutely throw me a plot! R

So Marie finally has her chance to truly fall in love. Her first marriage, like many, certainly wasn't for love but for money and power. Eventually she became friends with her husband and fond of him, but it was never true love. And the spate of miscarriages she suffered during the relationship only made things more strained between the two of them. Now that her husband has died and Marie is done with mourning, it's her chance to maybe find true love. And thanks to one conniving King and his sneaky riding master... Marie might have just fallen in love with the person who could be the love of her life or the end of her sanity given their clashing political views: Paul Chauvelin. And to make things even more complicated, Marie will soon find herself pregnant out of wedlock with Paul's child. Oh dear. E
nemiesthe ones who see you all wrong
Yeah.. there's more than enough room for plenty of these. Marie is outspokenly a fan of a monarchy and becoming aware that not only is the Chouannerie behind a lot of problems in the country but that King Henri isn't such a bad person. With her new knowledge she fully intends to do whatever she can to aid in getting rid of the Chouannerie. Though most of them probably suspect nothing from her -yet-.. there's potential for that to develop. Likewise, the revolutionaries probably don't love her. She's doing everything she can to keep her son from squandering the family fortune on the Sacred Heart so that she can use it herself to aid The Pimpernel in rescuing those in danger and for charity for those who need help and are in the worst situations in the lower classes. But despite her willingness to help the less fortunate, she is conservative and a monarchist so it's up to you how your character would respond to that. Some might not like it.. some might be fine with it as she is a good person. Anyone who is an enemy of Paul Chauvelin might become an enemy of her or MAKE her into an enemy to punish Paul once it's out that they're together. Basically anything goes.. so shoot ideas at me!
