I'd ask
HENRI CHARLES d'ARTOIS
about love,
he'd probably quote me a sonnet

THE MUSES - Mes Amis
When to the sessions of sweet silent thought
I summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste:
Then can I drown an eye, unus'd to flow,
For precious friends hid in death's dateless night,
And weep afresh love's long-since cancell'd woe,
And moan the expense of many a vanish'd sight.
Then can I grieve at grievances foregone,
And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er
The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan,
Which I new pay as if not paid before.
But if the while I think on thee, dear friend,
All losses are restor'd, and sorrows end.
Friends! - You wouldn't think that a boy king would be on the out with friends, but he is - partially thanks to the Chouannerie who like to keep Henri isolated to prevent him from getting too close to any one person, so he's easier for them to control. This is improving because Henri is composing a circle of friends whom he knows he can trust who support his desire to rule in his own rite and improve things. This group is growing larger to encompass all ages and positions. They bring donations to those who need them the most and in addition to companionship, provide Henri with true information about what's going on outside the palace. Henri is a very friendly person and, aside of politics, it'd be very difficult to dislike him. He's the kind of person that tries to be friends with everyone, so unless you particularly do something to make him not like you, you can assume he probably will - no matter whether you're rich, poor, or even against him in politics - provided you aren't plotting his death.

THE TITANS - Ma Famille
They that have power to hurt and will do none,
That do not do the thing they most do show,
Who, moving others, are themselves as stone,
Unmoved, cold, and to temptation slow;
They rightly do inherit heaven's graces
And husband nature's riches from expense;
They are the lords and owners of their faces,
Others but stewards of their excellence.
The summer's flower is to the summer sweet,
Though to itself it only live and die,
But if that flower with base infection meet,
The basest weed outbraves his dignity:
For sweetest things turn sourest by their deeds;
Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds.
Family! - Henri used to be very close to his family before he was separated from them by the Chouannerie upon becoming king. He isn't sure where they are now as he hasn't seen them in four years and misses them desperately. His mother is Carolina and his father died before he was born. However, his mother has secretly remarried - something that should be coming to light right about now - to an Italian nobleman named Ettore Carlo Lucchesi Palli. Before long they'll add four half sisters and a half brother to Henri's life - the first of which is about to be born though he doesn't know it. Also, he's particularly close to the aunts and cousins (12 children and -their- children) from his Grandfather's second marriage. Particularly Maria Antonia - who will be discussed more in Loves. There's more information about this in the History section of Henri's app.

THE CHERUBS - Mes Amours
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest;
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
"Lovers! But he's only 13!" - you say. To true.. but Henri has already tasted the bitter pangs of love even at his young age. Being surprisingly mature for his age, Henri already is interested in girls. As a 9 year old boy he rather fell in love with his half-aunt Maria Antonia who was 14 to his 9. The two were surprisingly serious about each other given their ages and even exchanged a kiss the night of his birthday. He even snuck out to see her at night on a few occasions. However, Henri has just a year ago been crushed to learn Maria Antonia is marrying someone else. He wonders if she's forgotten the promises they made to each other. He was depressed inwardly for a good part of the summer and fall last year because of this unexpected happening. Maria Antonia moving on without him was, to Henri, another reminder of his separation from both his happy childhood and his family. Despite his disappointment, He does try to flirt a little bit, though is very very proper about it. I would really like to see Henri get a crush or a girlfriend because.. oh hilarity. Of course.. he would not want someone too much older than himself, though he does.. tend to like older girls because they're more able to understand how he's not just a typical boy of thirteen. I'd say someone 14-16 would be what he's looking for. I could see them exchanging secret letters and him being -embarrassed- if the Chouannerie found out about his crush.

THE FURIES - Mes Ennemis
Th' expense of spirit in a waste of shame
Is lust in action; and till action, lust
Is perjur'd, murderous, bloody, full of blame,
Savage, extreme, rude, cruel, not to trust;
Enjoy'd no sooner, but despised straight;
Past reason hunted; and no sooner had,
Past reason hated, as a swallow'd bait,
On purpose laid to make the taker mad:
Mad in pursuit, and in possession so;
Had, having, and in quest to have, extreme;
A bliss in proof,--and prov'd, a very woe;
Before, a joy propos'd; behind, a dream:
All this the world well knows; yet none knows well
To shun the heaven that leads men to this hell.
Enemies - it'd be fairly difficult to make an enemy out of Henri because he likes to give everyone a chance. However, if you mistreat people in front of him that's one way to do it - especially if it's him or his family or a friend. He won't stand for people being treated badly if he can help it. If you lie to him that's another way. If you treat him like a worthless child there's another. Some members of the Chouannerie might make themselves enemies of him if he can single them out as one of the ones who's keeping him from his family to keep him weak. Or one of the ones that wants to control him and use him as a puppet. Some revolutionaries might be enemies by virtue of what they want to do to him as well. For instance if they want to kill him.. that.. kinda.. puts it in that category! Enemies are welcome too.
