Azelma Thenardier 15. Female. Citizen.
I NFO This is Azelma Thenardier, aka Eponine's younger sister, aka Magpie. She's fifteen, but you couldn't tell that from looking at her. Zelma is a bit of an odd duck. Sweet, simple--and prone to lengthy one-sided conversations with inanimate objects. Don't let that bother you. She'll eventually realize somebody was talking to her and start paying attention.
Maybe.
She's quite distractible and gullible--and quiet. Getting more than two words out of her is a challenge. Unless you're a mouse. Or Eponine. Otherwise, good luck.
Those that have persevered have found in Zelma a loyal, if bizarre, friend and confidant.
N EEDS
Friends: Azelma needs friends. She probably knows most of the street kids in the neighborhood--though whether they actually like her is up for debate--and would consider her friend. Anybody that's nice to her would ask go on this list. Really, she's not herd to befriend. If you can get past the whole talking-to-mice thing. And a few other quirks...
Enemies: Policemen. Inspector Javert. People who don't like beggars. Zel is a thief too, though she's more likely to pickpocket and rob from market stalls, but anybody she's stolen from is probably an enemy. Anybody who bothers Eponine is also on this list.
Lovers: Azelma's straight, but beyond that, I don't ship her with anybody. She's too worried about not starving to death, and too busy making sure nobody bothers her sister, to really think about love. If something happens though, I'd be up for it.

+waves+ Howdy
So Dimitri has a lot of power in the criminal classes, and your lovely Azelma works as a criminal. I sense potential plots! So she largely works for her parents so she wouldn't be under his control (Unless her parents are under his control?) so they might have come across each other on the streets? I dunno. Do you have any ideas?

The Thenardiers basically subsist--sort of--by writing fraudulent letters to rich philanthropists begging for money--at least in the novel. Honestly, I'd love it if they worked for Dimitri somehow. That would be epic. Zelma's a petty their/pickpocket/beggar and short of going Fantine's route, will basically do what she's told. So if Dimitri needs a lookout, or somebody to cause a distraction, 'Zelma's his gal. She's pretty timid and easily cowed, too. I'll have a read over his app when I get home and see if anything jumps out so me.

Dimitri is currently the head of a large gang but I would be interested in getting a puppet to act as the head (Dimitri isn't really interested, he likes the power but hates communicating with people.), you mentioning her as a runner is a good idea. She could be the runner between him and the pawn, and working for him would save her having to do the harder jobs. Also offering her a degree of protection? Does that sound of any interest to you?

AZELMA THENARDIER Would Zelma like to better herself? In her learning? I have a lady here who spends time at the abc cafe, she would be willing to guide and tutor Zelma free of charge if she wants!
